the boat has a forward ballast tank in it, which is permanently glassed in. actually its pretty trick, theres an electric dump opperated v.i.a a switch on the dash to the right which dumps the tank. and to fill it , it has, which i believe is the first such use in this industry, a remote electric ball valve that is opperated from the same panel where the dump switch is located. i did some work on this boat for kirk as a sub a while back.

The 311's have a porpise problem that I have thought about moving some weight forward. I know I did it in a Welcraft I had .. lead weights in the bow . I know it would compromise some speed at times but might be a simple fix. there has been alot of disscussion in the prop section about what prop would sovle the isssue ......m

Is that the same type of system that wakeboard boats have been using over the past 10 years, just placed in the bow instead of the stern?

Offthefront, you may want to look into what some of the wakeboard boats use. I believe there are portable units as well.

the lead weights arent such a good idea from a safety standpoint, especially if they were to come loose after a violent impact or so.
as far as compromising speed that is questionable. for example 24 skater w/2.5's v.s 28 skater w /2.5's. the bigger heavier boat is faster with the same power. it tends to carry it's weight better while maintaining a better c.g . so sometimes weight actually help's, especially if it can be added or moved to a specific area.
some rops do help with this also. helping to lift stern and such. had alot of luck with the 5 bld max from merc. more than anything it takes alot of time to accurately dial in any boat for optimum all around performance.

A ballast tank is a simple method of fine tuning your C.G., while running.Subject to changing load (fuel on board, passengers, passenger placement and etc.) water in the ballast tank effects the C.G. relative to those variables.Example:10 gallons x 8lbs./gal=80lbs......80#x30 ft.=2400# lever arm from the transom.Big number, with enough wt. up front it might be easy to stuff the bow. Good Luck
