To GOODT;
I will concede to your experience and agree with the electrolysis as being the primary culprit. I was mostly musing on other types of anti-sieze agents and my experiences in the high temperature turbine and incinerator business.
What is the nature of Merc 101 or Merc 1? Is it like Permatex?
Have you ever tried the Tef-gel?
Jim

merc 101 is a sinthetic lube/ low speed grease made by/for mercury marine people call it the green one because its a flouest looking green color
no never heard of tef gel
merc used to use there version of aviation permatex as a corrosion inhibiter when assebleing drives now they use 101 it is not a sealer

Goodt,
Do you use the Merc 101 on bolts as an anti-seize product for bolts/surfaces of dissimilar metal i.e. stainless bolt in aluminum hole? Also, what about stainless nut on stainless bolt to prevent galling.

Used neversieze on ocean going tugs for 25 years as Chief Engineer. Including tapered prop shafts and nuts. Never had any corrosion issue as a result of the neversieze. Must be the junk merc aluminum.

I bet you used the same stuff that I have seen in the piping industry for the past 34 years. It basically is a liquid graphite. Sometimes we mixed it ourselves for steam applications. I cannot dispute anyones word on the value of antiseeze dope containing copper, nickel and all that. We always just kept it simple.
