I am ditching my tranny project and going to look for trannies ready to go. What would you do for a trs, B/w or Merctrans and why? less than 500HP on the motor.

Wow, easiest question on the board today.
B/W Velvet Drive. It's rated for about 500hp, it was used in the standard Merc package with TRS for over a decade, easy to find parts/rebuild.
The Merctrans was weak from the start and parts are hard to find.

Is the motor already mounted? Which tranny you use will dictate where it needs to be mounted. All things being equal, I'd go with the BW. I just had a Merc trans rebuilt. You can still get all the parts. I've heard the merc is a Ford FMX transmission. I had them put the extra clutch disc in it while they were at it. I think it needed it.

Nothing is mounted yet. I am still slowly working on the fiberglass. Just with all the cold weather ahead I figured I could start on the powertrain.
