330/454 Bravo 1
I have a 1990 Bravo 1, 330/454. When I start it up, it will run for around 10 to 15 seconds and shut off, just like if I were to turn the key off. All the gauges go dead. Is there an engine shutdown integrated with the audio alarm system? I know the oil pressure switch needs replacing. I tested it. Would this shut the motor off or just sound the audio alarm?

Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
If efi or mpi mtr there is a shut off that works off of oil press that works off of its own sender and is either over the oil filter ( if block mounted ) or teed off where the regular sender is

Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
ok lets start at square 1
how long before it will start back up???? does ing switch have a fuse or circut breaker? |
Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
It will probably start up in less than two minutes. I do not see a fuse or circuit breaker in the ignition switch system other than the main 50-Amp breaker.

Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
have had a lot of older boats with ingition swith problems do the same thing jump the back side of switch to check or use a amp tester to check.

Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
with out going through 50 questions.. id first look at the coil after the mtr stalls feel coil check if hot a quick guess would be a shorting coil... would cause mtr to die and could short dash
what happens is it gets hot, windings expand and short cools down and windings separate have seen it many times never saw dash short but it could since the purple wire to to coil also powers your gauges |
Re: 330/454 Bravo 1
I hot wired this thing last fall to winterize it. Ran like it always did. Thats why I'm leaning toward the o/pressure switch.
