how to set electric choke on hp500 carb (holley)
One of my chokes was broken off, so i replaced it, but how do you set it. I fired the engines last night, and the one i replaced it one, didnt want to stay running till it warmed up so i know its not right. I tried to look at the other carb and copy that as best as possible, but it didnt work. whats the right way to do it?

BajaRunner,
First can you tell if the choke is working at all? When its cold when you open the throttle does the choke blade close or at least partially close?
The "normal" choke setting is with the scribe mark on the plastic choke housing aligned with the center scribe mark on the choke body per my merc manual.
If the choke blade is closing then, if I am not mistaken, there is a screw/nut on the underside of the choke assembly that adjusts the fast idel speed. If blade is closing then I suspect this may be your problem.
Hope this helps.
