Here's what I use since I already had the pump for engine oil changes.
Simple hose and fittings from Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, or Tru-Value stores. The fitting that goes into the outdrive is the only non-standard piece. |

Here is a close up of the only problematic component. It is actually
three parts. Hose barb 1/8 NPT, Hex sleeve double end 1/8 NPT, and a home made 3/8-16 NC and 1/8 NPT nipple. You need to buy a 1-4 inch 1/8 NPT nipple tube. Cut one end off at your desired length. File a nice chamfer on the cut off end. Then use a 3/8-16 NC die to cut the threads. This end goes into the outdrive. Be very careful to square the die onto the nipple/tube or else it will wobble and cause trouble when you put the fitting into the outdrive. I use my mini-drill press to start the threads in the die so that the nipple is perfectly perpendicular to the die. Once you get a few threads started you can put it into a vise. Looks like it may rain today...so no boating. Figured I'd finish my oil pump. I drilled out a shoulder bolt..put an o-ring on it..then drilled and tapped the other end with a 1/8th pipe tap, and inserted a short nipple. Put the quick disconnect ends on, and finished screwing it all together. I used a long shoulder bolt so that its easy to get your fingers around, and the knurling on the "head" makes it non-slip. The handle on the hose can be locked in the on position, and the quick disconnect will hold the oil in the lower unit till I'm ready to unscrew it. Sprayer is 2 gallons, and was $13 at Home Depot. :drink:
