The motors were hp500efi's with the Whipple kit it was so-post to make 625hp I think it was closer to 575-580hp at 5200 rpm and 4 1/2 - 5 Lbs of boost My opinion you are making 700 ish Good Luck The new motors stats 1 inch smaller top pulley mad 9 Lbs Dart Pro 1's 325cc cnc ported by Indy Carin cam 625/625/256/256 4.5'' flat top Je pistons zero decked the block Don Dyno run video http://www.speedwake.com/photopost/s...cat=519&page=1 |
Re: 5 mph gain after Whipple install, something wrong??
Hi K.
Your speed numbers are vary similar to Jcap's boat when he was running a 700HP/509cube, Bravo prop and no drive spacer. So unfortunately it would appear you have only gained about 100HP. If I remember correctly from the thread you wrote a while back, the 2.3L Whipple is good to about 750HP with a pulley change. There is probably a few more ponies that you can squeeze out of her; I'd call JC Perf and Whipple. Also, your prop slip numbers indicate that there is another couple mph to be gained there as-well. You'll have her running 90mph before long... :drink: |

I have a 510ci and spun the blower up to 2.125% over at 11.5 lbs of boost . it did not hit a wall ,wasn't building up excessive heat.i think it could of still made more power if I have a good short block and spun it higher  I wonder if the tune up is off?????? rob :drink: |

Re: 5 mph gain after Whipple install, something wrong??
What Are The Specs On The Camshaft. Did Jc Say It Was Supercharger Friendly ? Any Cam Will Work But Some Will Make Much More Power Than Others.

Re: 5 mph gain after Whipple install, something wrong??
We through an extra 300hp per side to our TopGun with only a 3 mile per hr change, from 82 to 85mph GPS over our stock Merc 600SC power.
My engine builder was a bit frustrated to say the least, it wasn't until he personally pulled a hook out of my bottom that I couldn't even detect with my 8' straight edge, did we finally gain the expected 10 to 12 additional mph. I cant say that this is your case, she may simply be down on power, however the bottom may be something to look at. For us it was like hitting a brick wall all between 5200 and 5800 rpms the boat just stopped going any faster at 85MPH or so. Good Luck! |

Re: 5 mph gain after Whipple install, something wrong??
I'd call Superboat to see if there is any drive height, drive shape, and/or hull changes that need to be made once up in this speed area.
