Not to be a smartazz or something, but why is there such a big gap between max torque and max HP?

Normally you want to see a 1000 to 1200 rpm variance.

My Whipple charged motor TQ peaked around 4100 and HP peaked at 61-6200.I think its the Whipple that builds TQ real early.

Frank, good question. I'll make sure my info on max hp vs rpm is right when I talk to Tyler today.

I haven't used any of the IMCO SC drives yet. The IMCO extreme drive with my 750 1X4 carb package lasted 5 hours. This is in a 37' Outerlimits which runs about 105-106 mph, and is not totally dialed in yet with props. I would also consider the ACE Konarad drive if you are going to have honest horsepower like that.

buy a 6 and forget about saving the initial money, they just wont hold up period, plus is'nt your life worth the difference in price.

If money isn't an option sure get the 6 but it's easier said than done.

A. New IMCO's are around $18K for a pair. Save your money and buy XR's and have them set up properly, it's basically the same thing.

B. A new pair of BMax HT's with a 1 yr warranty is $22K or, if there are some R&D drives available you're looking at $17K. You can purchase an additional 2 yr warranty for $1500 a drive, so you have 3 yrs total warranty.

C. New #6's + transmissions + fiberglasswork = $60K +/-.

I went with option "B" but I'll have to see how everything goes.

It will cost you in the long run, 900hp on Bravos spells instant failure, your money , your life, just giving you my opinion, In 2 years you will have spent what a 6 costs, plus your boat will be in the shop all the time, and your desire to boat will be shot, been there

The only people that I have heard who have success running higher HP (750+) applications with an XR or Imco variant are people who put those drives behind IMCO extension boxes with the torsional drives shafts and a soft rubber coupler.

The theory being that the torsional shaft and the soft rubber coupler absorbs the drive line stresses - especially when the boat launches and comes back into the water.

I am having a set of 625 Ilmors put in a 38 Fountain and may add the boxes at some point for just that reason.

I see your point but with the BMax you spend $22K + $3K for 2 yr extended warranty.

$25K for 3 year warranty, you could do it all over in 3 years and still come out ahead.

In a perfect world I would have 6's but the fundzalo disease doesn't alow it.

I almost forgot, $6K for props.

If this doesn't work, I'll just get some 525's.
