Borg Warner C72 Operating Pressure ?
#11
That is the reason for our 8o psi spec, under that they don't engage. I bet the pressure is over 80 psi when you first fire it up. Take the regulators apart, many times there is some crap or a burr keeping the regulator valve off the seat that will drop the pressure at idle.

what about running pressure ?? what should it be ??does the trans have to come out to pull the regulators?.....MY MERC MECH. SAID I SHOULD HAVE CLOSE TO 190 PSI @ 3000 rpm under load..??
#13
Yes, should be up around 190. THe regulator comes out by removing the shift arm and then pulling the cover where the neutral switch is. I't about the only thing you can check without pulling it.

Yes, but then you have to pull them. Pump, housing, reverse adapter, missing/cracked seal ring, worn bushings in planatary.

are the regulators rebuildable..?? replacement cost ??...worst case senario...how much for rebuilts exchange ?? (trade in my two complete units for rebuilts..or totaly rebuild existing ?)...
#18
We can take a look, there really is no way to test them without being in the transmission. Figure $90 each to dis-assemble, change spring, re-assemble.

What kind of trans fluid are you running?
I was running regular tans fluid once and didn't have much reverse after a long run. As per Mark I switched over to type F and my problems went away.
