how big can i stroke out a 454 block,496,540.when do you need to use a tall deck?

A standard deck block can go to 4.375 stroke but that makes for a short piston. Most guys only go 4.25. With a .060 overbore that gets you a 496 with a 454 block and 555 with a 502 block.

I think with the 4.375 you get a 522 but piston rings will literally be over wrist pin and high on the piston,Smitty
