Less than 1hr pulling (2) 500EFI's with 2 guys.....they come out quick. :p Take a little longer to put back in though.... :drink: That was in a cat which is probably a little easier to get to everything than a V botoom.

Re: Best pulled motor times

well i never timed an engine pulling....but after blowing up 3 engines in one season due to shady machine shop services.....i had it down to a science in my 1985 30' scarabII......yanked a motor out and swapped all the accessories onto a short block and put it all back together in just a hair under an hour and a half.....including alignment of the engine and installing the TRS drive

Dam that is fast! I pulled both engines, rebuilt, and reinstalled in a weekend. The only problem is that was a Dream!!

I wish I could pull my engines that fast.

I use a fork lift most of the time, anything that can handle the weight will work fine ive used back hoes, tow trucks, elect hoists ect they all work

The best way I have learned to remove motors is to hire someone else to do it. :D :D I'm just to cheap

What size tractor is that in the middle photo? I have one that looks the same and didn't think it would move the boat......

Me too. I can r & r mine in about 3 hours. My buddy has a similar truck, but much shorter boom. Only problem is its an hour drive from me. So I guess 5 hours total.

Where I live that 3 hours of time saves 600-1000 bucks!

Its a BX 23 Kobota.I welded up a mount for the front and used existing holes in the frame.I made the ball changable and I use the tractor to move all my trailers around the yard. That is my garage the boat is parked in front of.I have 1.5 inches on each side to get the boat into the door.No way I could do it with the truck,so I made this work.Works perfect :D :D
PS I tapped a wire into my head light switch and to trailer so I can lock out brakes in reverse by just turning lights on.

Otis,

as you know this is my first boat and I was trying to get the oiled drained through the dip stick tube.I couldnt turn the hole boat upside down so I pulled the motors to flip them.Worked out great.I'll see you next weekend on your lake.PARTY TIME :drink: :drink:

Anthony, When are you coming up ?? Ill be leaving to go to Niagra Falls for union meetings on Sunday am and wont be home until Saturday am. I will be around all week after that. I am on Vacation the last week in July. Rick Peek is also on Vacation that week, so it should be a great time....If you get your oil changed !!

BTW..Ive had alot of practice pulling my engines in years past. Those are pretty good times considering the room you have to work with in the bilge. Welcome to the world of high performance boating my friend

But now that I'm doing some work to the motors I will not be getting them back till the 14th,putting them in on the 15th,testing on the 16th and then driving right up to the lake.Hopefully they run ok or I may need your boat
