On another point, there are 6 @ 90 degree elbows, one abrupt expansion into the intercooler, one abrupt contraction after the intercooler and one abrupt transition into the throttle body on the Procharger system. All this amounts to big pressure losses, forcing the blower to work harder and hotter to deliver a given amount of boost to the intake.

If you have the headroom this system is much more efficient. It has one vaned elbow into the throttle body after which air velocity (and pressure losses) are greatly reduced through the upper plenum and intercooler.

Sorry, I just get crazy when I see so many elbows.
It is interesting when I see the "mouse trap" looking procharger installs with a dozen 90's and bends to remotely mount the innercooler,I only used 2 90's and a couple of back to back 45's,when I tested pressure drop it was less than 1 psi including the innercooler but on systems using the smaller aw324innercoooler I'm sure it may exceed 3 psi,your package really cleans it up and looks professional,Smitty

I know what you guys are saying about the 90 degree bends. But I am not looking for 800 plus hp. just a low boost, intercooled, engine. I also don't have the engine room, this is for my 288 Sunsation. I am also limited in front of the engine. I am leaning towrads Procharger because a good personal friend is a dealer here in Ottawa, and wants to get one out.

So no doubt the inter cooler will have to sit to the left of the engine, and run 5 feet of piping. But if it still produces 600 plus hp, I'm fine with that.

I also am factory removing the heads to have the valve seats, and guilds looked at. Along with new gaskets too.

So if I prop the boat to turn no more than 5000 or so rpm after the blower, and be easy on the stick, I think I can get another 200 hours out of her. Then rebuild to suit the procharger a little better.

Just thinking out loud here.

heres a pic of how I plumbed my single,same deal with no room for inercooler except off to one side,works well and was cleanest way I could mount it,Smitty

Hey CJ, just an FYI the aw324 intercooler which usually comes standard on an M1 fits just fine on a 288 on the front of the motor with only one 180 degree bend. I think the M-3 intercooler would have to be mounted on the side. Im looking to upgrade the innercooler for next season maybe to run a little more boost. Im running up to 6psi now with the aw324 and M1.

Thanx for the info Daga. My guy is still waiting to hear back from the main marine guy at Procharger. He has been tied up at a show somewhere.

I agree, Go through the motors. I don't know of too many peaople getting more than 200 to 250 hours in a blower motoer without some kind of maintenance. A stock motor with 300 hours will start to put fuel in the oil during the first year. Best to rebuild, Cometic gaskets , studs, springs, valves, etc.
