Default Crazy thermostat housing dilemma

Ok I took this thing apart along time ago, im trying to figure out the correct order that these parts go into the housing. Take a peek at the pic and see if you can help me out. Is it cork gasket first, then t-stat, then the brass ring, which I am assuming the lip is at the top?

The gasket with the brass rivets goes between manifold and t stat boss,

The t-stat goes in first, then the cork gasket (actually isn't even needed, I don't run one & local marina says unnecessary), then the brass ring to pin t-stat in place, lip to t-stat side. If you bend or tweak it, don't worry, it will easily be manipulated back to a round shape.
