Default Hatch Actuator / Trim Pump

Hey fella's,

My hatch actuator motor and pump appear to be a standard Merc trim pump unit.

It's been giving me trouble lately. Sometimes (intermittently), it doesn't respond to the press of the button on the dash, but I do hear a click. Sometimes it works fine, other times all it does is just click, but then after a few tries (clicks) it works again all of a sudden.

Do I need a whole new unit, or could it just be a solonoid or something simple?

Thanks in advance.

Check with a test light to see if you have power out of the solenoid to the pump. If no; change solenoid. If yes; replace pump motor with a rebuilt. Available through Sierra for much less than the complete unit. --- Jer

I've checked to see it the power's faulty, and there's power at the switch and at the pump input full time, no interuptions from what I've gathered. Even when the pump fails to respond, I hear a distinct clicking noise at(or within) the pump, so I don't think it's a power issue. Sound like the solonoid may be bad, I'll start there and if that doesn't work I'll get a new unit. Thanks for the lead, JPclear.
