Go Gators! $2 screwdriver is right...I spent ~ $100 on every conceivable oil filter wrench @ NAPA, several worthless wonder tools, pipe wrenches from Home Depot, not to mention I ruined my Old Reliable 25+ yr old filter wrench and the screwdriver worked.
I thought about the remote oil filter when I had the engines out last month but I've never had this problem before. I think the guy who installed the engines for me had to have put a wrench on the filters, but who knows. I installed the filters and ran the engines in my garage before I brought them to be installed.
Thanks again for the suggestion, I had setup to pull the engine out yesterday but figured I'd give it one more shot Monday...Busted up fingers / arms and a few ounces of blood...Now I have extra grand for gas money

It is worth mentioning that oil filters tend to come off much easier when the engine/filter is good and warm. You also have the benefit of draining the oil with more particles suspended in the oil when the engine was just run.

I started with warm engines but this one wouldn't budge.
I used that exact belt wrench to squeeze the oil out of it...Crushed it to about half its size. It would have worked if I had more space to turn the Socket. I could only turn it about 1/8th of a turn. Once the belt had tension on it, it would stretch.

I helped a buddy of mine remove his oil filter the other night from his new boat SBC. Space was very limited. Obvoiusly, the moron that installed the prior filter did such with a wrench (I think it was factory).
It was a "the strain popped a vein in my forehead" removal, but it came off. Luckily, we did not need to resort to extreme measures. It reminded me of removing lug nuts from a wheel after the idioits at Discount Tire installed them.
