Re: Bravo 1 outdrive with metal shavings on drain plug
I'd pop the prop shaft out (it takes about 5 minutes) and look at the lower gears and I'd at least pull the shifter cap and look at the upper gears. For the cost of a merc prop shaft tool (about 75$),a borrowed fine graduated inch lbs tq wrench and a 12$ load ring you would know if your gears are going away or not in less than a hour. The rest of the o-rings should be re-usable if drive is only 1 or 2 years old,Smitty

99% of the time you don't need to replace the load ring...... my 2 cents... |
Re: Bravo 1 outdrive with metal shavings on drain plug
Looks very familiar - seems like bravos like to make some metal. I would run it and change the oil every 25 hrs. See what you get. I have seen much worse without a problem. How many hours since the last change?

Had the same thing on a left turning 1X drive. Time to rebuild or replace.
