Bravo 1 outdrive with metal shavings on drain plug
I was changing the oil on my outdrive and there was metal shavings on drain plug and the upper plug as well. This drive has maybe 100 hrs on it, but past the 1 year warranty. My question is am I better off just trying to sell it as is and just buy a brand new one? I can get a brand new one with a 2 year warranty for $3,999.00. I would hate to have to spend $2,000 to repair mine just to have problems later down the road. I learned my lesson this year rebuilding my 502. It would of been cheaper to just of bought a new 502 crate and less of headaches with the rebuild.

Was it shavings or a fuzz ball on the magnets tip, it is common to have a a small ball of particles on the tip.

I know what you mean when you say fuzz balls, and this isn't the case. It looks like little pcs of shaved metal all the same size. I'll tried to see if i can get a picture and post it. I took off the top cap and from what I could see everything looked fine up there. But that is about as far as Im capable of going inspection wise. When I turn the prop by hand it seems pretty smooth. I would hate to have to get a repair bill for over $2,000 for a repair bill when I might be better off getting a new one and just trying to sell the one I have. I'll try to get pics and post them.

Re: Bravo 1 outdrive with metal shavings on drain plug
What you want to give me for it? It only has about 70 hrs on it. It was never abused. Always ran synthetic. I would rather just buy a new one and not deal with what headaches come with rebuilds.

As little as possible!!! PM me a number and we'll see if we're even close.

Less than 100 hours on a new drive.....I'd run it! Change the fluid every 25 hrs and see what you get. If it stays the same (or I'm willing to bet it gets better) then don't worry about it.

Re: Bravo 1 outdrive with metal shavings on drain plug
The gears in a Bravo One all seem to wear to some extent...lots of variables. Changing the drive lube about every 25 hours or so and adding a drive shower/cooler would be beneficial as well....something like a Simrek "halo" driveshower or something comparable.
