Question IMCO Extreme to BMAX conversion question

So we've got the BMAX's in - they use a larger U-joint than the IMCO's.

What we thought was a simple process of changing the input shaft (for the extension boxes) isn't gonna happen.

The U-Joint on the BMAX's are larger.

So - Does anyone know of a U-Joint that will work? Should I get a machinist to modify the shafts?

Or just bite the bullet and call IMCO and order new shafts that will fit the BMAX's?

Thanks!!

I ordered the Shafts from IMCO also...I had extention boxes too, so those new shafts were pricey$$$

I have heard of machining a set of lager caps to fit over the smaller ones. I didnt like the idea then and still dont. But that is up to you, just an idea.
I would recommend buying new input shafts.

Do the imco shafts fit bravo drives or imco only?

Originally the Imco shafts were setup for the small units that are found standard Bravos. When the XR/XZ's came out they made one to fit that. Now Merc has metric input shafts and Imco is looking at that issue, but I dont think they have a product for it yet. It has been a while since I discussed that issue with them.
I am not familiar with the Bmax input shaft ujoints. I would assume they are the XR size? But you know what assuming does. A call to Imco would verify.. Talk to Rick.

In the automotive world they make U joints large on one end and small on the other. Most good driveshaft shop carry them. Mite be a quick fix if you bring in both sizes for them to measure.
