Just bought a 1997 Scarab SCS 502/502 from Michigan last weekend and brought it back to Colorado.Bought it from an employee that works at a business that sells boats but their main business is ATV's and snowmobiles.
My question guys is the boat was winterized with Banfrost 2000.Never heard of that product until I did a search on this board.I've owned several performance boats and have never winterized with antifreeze.I've always drained the block and pulled all water hoses. The prior owner assures me this is the correct and proper way to winterize. It's very cold here since I brought the boat back,-4 degrees last nite.Should I take it to a Marina here or just go with the way it was winterized.I'm just not getting a warm and fuzzy when I go to bed at nite but the prior owner guarantees me it was done right.

Banfrost 2000 is good for -50 degrees if winterized right. Should not be mixed with water.

pull one of the Drains in the lower side of the block and make sure a pink color antifreeze comes out . If the the color is a fairly dark pink your ok. With the freeze ban anifreeze it is important that you drain the block first , prior to running antfreeze through the motor.. Tom

I used -50 and have used it since I've been working on boats. I don't like draining everything down because my feeling is the lubricating properties of the anti-freeze is a good thing. Plus, when steel dries after being wet it rusts quicker and scales.

Thanks for the replys and suggestions.I did remove one drain plug from the block and one from each exhaust manifold.Sure enough the antifreeze poured out each hole.I'll be able to sleep much better tonite.Thank you.
