AC Power Switch In Engine Compartment??
I am installing an on-board battery charger in my boat, but I need to install an AC power switch between it and the shore power circuit so I can block AC power between it and my inverter-- when I am using the inverter and sending it's power though the boat (to the microwave, tv, dvd player, and other ac outlets, etc. I am having a difficult time finding a safe, spark-proof AC power switch that I would feel safe installing in the engine compartment... Any body know where I can source one? My switch panel in the cabin doesn't have an additional slot for me to add one there-- and really don't want to hassle running the wires all the way from the engine compartment forward, as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated-- thanks!

There should be a range of outdoor waterproof switches. In Australia we call the standard IP56, I know it is an international standard used in Europe as well but don't know if it is the same in the States. If not. there is bound to be an equivalent. There is no way you would have a spark problem if installed correctly.
