You would still have to close them holes from your existing pick-up's, otherwise there is really no point in putting the through hulls or the transome pic-ups on there.
What are you running for power ?

The best route...
The best route...would be to pull the motors for access to the center stringer at the transom, which is where you need install the new transom mounted water pick-up(s). They are available as a double or two singles. A ball valve installed first, as they come through the transom, then your first piece of double clamped 1 1/4" wire-wound hose. This hose can go directly to your engines water pump, if your water pick-ups are screened. If not, they need to go to sea-strainers first. The ball valves need to be able to be opened & closed, so you need to fabricate a stainless rod push/pull to accomplish this. The forward thru-hull locations were easy & inexpensive to install when the boat was new from the factory & are neanderthal by todays standards. They aireate the slipstream to the props, create drag, and can be damaged by hitting debris or marina cradles, trailers or straps. Have a qualified structural glass person, using absolutely no fillers of any kind, take care of your old thru-hull holes.

A friend of mine has a 377 scarab. 1981 I think. He went from a pair of 550HP 496CI running about 66, to 650HP 540's, and only gained about 3 more MPH to about 68-69. He removed the stock clamshell pickups on the bottom, and installed the transom mounted ones, and had the bottom blueprinted. Now the boat run 75 ish, and handles/rides nicer he says.
