Default water pickups

i have a 38' scarab, i was wondering if my pickups are slowing me down. they are located 4' forward of the stern. they are wedge shaped, and are 1 7/8 thick at the back. if i changed to a diferent thrue hull pickup, can i leave them were they are now ??

Default Thru-Hull Water Pick-Ups

What drives do you have & do your drives have existing water pickups in the sides? TRS drives, or?

I have surface drives on my Formula, and a Trs on a 22 Classic. They both have the same type of transom mounted pickups.

if i changed my thru hull pickups to the off shore thru hull pickups, they are to far forward and might not grab water without the wedges. it would be to easy to just change pick ups. has anyone tried it ??

Be sure to check the pipe in those pickups, I just replaced mine due to the pipe being stainless and the pu being alu. The will rot out and you will never know untill you start to overheat in strange ways.
