I run the Merc stuff too. 600+ hours, lots of flight time, no problems.

I like to use the Mercury gear lube in the drives. I have tries Royal Purpleand have had gsome issues. Was it the oil? Who knows, went back to green and problems went away. Yet we run the Royal Purple racing 51 in some of the big motors we service and after its time to freshen up the engine builder said the inside looked great after 150 hours. 1150 Cobras. I use Mobil 1 and Valvoline Racing. Its all in what YOU think is a good oil. After all, Mercury oil lasted the warrenty period.

I had someone recommend using the same oil that is used in the # 6 drives to run it in a bravo drive when pushing over 600 hp. Thoughts?

Hydro I may be reading into your post too much and your right but failure can happen at anytime. This is why I like a lube that will mix, it may save the day if you have a small leak before the next oil change.

I run the mercury green in my #6's and have run it in all of my previous Bravo's without any issues.
