Boy you can open a can of worms with gear ans engine oils! Redline, AMSOIL are the top two, I recently discovered another that reads as good if not better it is Spectro. I think Spectro is well worth adding to the list, their engine oil beats the well touted Harley oil take it from there. My drive and engine will be running both this season!

Don't forget Royal Purple....The can is open, might better do a search for drive oil on this topic or it will get ugly REAL fast!!

Well, have you had any problems using the Merc oil?
You're going to get alot of personnal opinions, because if 1 was proven the best without a doubt, everyone would be using it and there would be no post asking which is best.

Anybody here of Silogram??
Go to bottom of page and click on DynaRace II . There is no weight rating. They won't give you one either.

I would agree about the Merc HP. I've run the same Bravo 1 outdrive hard for 15 years on the stuff. Wake hopping, water skiing and racing. On my second factory engine but never had to touch the outdrive so far. I am sure this is common.

I like to use the Mercury gear lube in the drives. I have tries Royal Purpleand have had gsome issues. Was it the oil? Who knows, went back to green and problems went away. Yet we run the Royal Purple racing 51 in some of the big motors we service and after its time to freshen up the engine builder said the inside looked great after 150 hours. 1150 Cobras. I use Mobil 1 and Valvoline Racing. Its all in what YOU think is a good oil. After all, Mercury oil lasted the warrenty period.
