does the factory oil filter adapter have this t-stat.i am having a high oil temp problem and never thought there was a stat for the oil.

The oil Tstat will not help with a high oil temp problem. Its job is to let the oil get to the correct operating temp faster. It by passes the cooler until the oil reaches temp, and then it allows flow through the cooler.

called my dealer on this t-stat and he had no idea what i was talking about.did they use oil t-stat on stock 454 mag?if the t-stat was stuck not allowing oil to the cooler this could create high temps right?

They were only used on blue motors.

If you DO have the system, yes if the Stat was stuck and oil was bypassing the cooler you would have VERY high temps.

I had the same problem... was the water inlet hose from the drive to the strainer. It was enough for the oil to get hot but not enough to get the coolant too far off.
