I was timing my former boat for a buddy and noticed that the top of the ss riser out of the gil exhaust log was hot but only on the top of the inboard riser. It was not hot on the bottom of the same riser and the other riser was cold. Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks Doug

My experience with Gil with SS risers is that they sometimes get hot on the top of the elbows. Especially if the impeller is a few years old. I has not caused any problems so far.

Bring up the RPM's and see if it cools down. No more then 1800. Not on a hose...right? If that doesn't cool it down, flush the exhaust real good and make sure there isn't any blockage. Could be an impeller as already noted.

We usually recommend welding up a few holes on the bottom of the riser dump to force the water to the top. Gravity will take care of the bottom.

On my Gil's, I figured out that a chunk of powder coat inside the manifold broke loose and was restricting the water flow at the manifold fitting to to the jump hose. You may have to remove the fitting to be able to see. Removed it with pliers and everything was good.
