Not much you can do now. Damage from using acid to clean gel has occured. Maybe spend some bux and get the bottom clear coated. Problem solved.

To all - STOP damaging your gel with these acid based products. If you can't apply it with your bare hand and/or breath the fumes - then you are damaging your boat.
Ringo gets rid of the stain and will not damage your gel coat.

What BillR says Ringo is the best. Easy to use and the gel coat feels like it was just waxed..

I would like to try the RING GO but it just seems way to elusive to find. Googling it didn't do much good and I have tried to find a link or a website for vyper340 to learn more about it and maybe purchase some. All I can fin is a link to his email. Seems kind of crazy that I have to send an email to someone just to learn more about or purchase such a popular product?? Isn't there a website where you can learn more about this stuff.

Everybody who has used the Ringo has said it is awesome. Its a pool cleaner, I believe, that Viper340 can get. I searched the internet for it also and never found anything.

Also, I used muratic on my Baja monthly for 3 years and never saw any negative effects. I would bet that the wax is actually causing more harm than good and adding to the yellowing.

I would think Ringo has some form of acid in it for it to work?????

My understanding is that the acid etches the gell coat making it more porous?

It does seem kind of unusual that you have to buy Ringo in order to find out what the contents are????? Does anyone know what is in this - it has to state on the bottle??????

Gel coat has some porosity to it. The stain penetrates the outside of the gel. The acid also penetrates and eats away the stain.

i don't want to sound like a *ss here but i really don't think anyone should be using acid to clean your boat.it may make it easy to get stuff off but you ARE damaging your boat.now my boat only sits in the water on the weekends so i don't get much stuff on it,but when i get home on sun the hull gets washed every weekend and whatever is on it comes off.then i wax it.maybe this helps keep it clean,an it's a pain to do every weekend but it works.has enyone just used soap and water with some elbow grease?i use this stuff i get from work called korkay spray cleaner and it works
