Default Adjusting Carb

Carb is a Holley 4150, mech. secondaries, no choke tower, 4 corner a/f adjustment screws and primary / secondary idle speed adjustment. I think I understand the basics of adjusting but what I'm unsure of is the secondary side. How should the secondary idle speed be adjusted along with the a/f adjusters.

Thanks, Dave

I never heard of a secondary idle speed, but, for basic adjustments, you will want to seat the mixture screws all the way in, then back out about 1 1/2 turns, and make sure when you fine tune them, that the idle speed screw is out enough so the carb is on the idle circuit. set the mixture screw using a vacuum gauge, looking for the highest reading. Then adjust idle speed screw. At least this is how I do it.

I'm running a 1050 dominator, it has primary and secondary idle adj. and 4 corner idle.split the idle equally between both, you want the throttle plates open the same amount or the mixtrue will not be right, from there set the mixture screws as normal, either vacuum or rpm.
