just put in a new motor and it will not turn up over three grand. All the wiring tests and is hooked up correctly. the timing is advancing. I am at a loss any ideas? I swapped the coil with the port motor and had tthe same issue and the port ran fine. It is a 5.7 mercruiser with a thunderbolt ignition

could be a dozen things but seems to me you are on the right track swapping components w/ the good running motor... that seems to me to be the simplest and quickest way to find out if its a carb/distributor/fuel pump deal... have all the answers you need in less than an hour.

ck & make sure your carb gasket is not catching on back butterflies & won't let them open

yeah check for full throttle.
