Dean,
If your 600's are 06's, check with Merc about if yours fall into the serial number range where the mechanical pumps get updated. Was told by Merc Racing tech the early 600's had pumps that should be swapped to the current part number.
Those mechanical pumps are the least expensive part of the whole fuel system and can cause issues further into the system, I would just put two new pumps on.

Ordered (2) new fuel pumps of Friday, should be here this week. Once I get them installed and the 388 is running again, I will experiment on trying to rebuild the old 1's.

What do you do with the overflow or vent hose when you do the Holley upgrade?
