Depth finder help please

Friend has a 1999 DONZI 26ZX depthfinder is stuck readiing 8.5 can anyone help with a fix. Thanks alot !!

I have a Hummingbird it is stuck at 4.5. If I hold the set butten for a few seconds it will work for a while. I called them and was told to send the unit back and they would fix it for about $70.
