Does this mean, that if you were north of the equator, it would be offset to the right?

tassie boy 08-21-2007 05:41 AM

thats not a bad bit of banter , coming from a thursday islander on his way home. but seriously this boat is 7.5 meters long but only 1900mm wide and 23 degree,s at the transom,if you were going to set a new sterndrive on it would you fit it on centre .cheers tassie boy

fastlane40 08-21-2007 06:33 AM

Of course you would put it in the center.I couldn't imagine having it any other way.To have it offset would mean the motor being offset.Send me the pictures and i'll post them for you.csmazlin@tpg .com.au.Am i speaking to fast?

I would center it. I'm sure that the offset was due to some experimentation to counteract the torque. You can do the same with rigging of heavy equipment and driver position.

that omc drive will never hold up to 600hp there a dog up here, they break so much you can't give them away, save up do it right buy a bravo 1 set up used even. and center the drive or you will be going in circles :circle: on a slant:circle: used bravo parts run anywhere on here for 1000 to 2800 for used drive a gimbal asn will be a 1000 and up. there was a hole set up for 3000 last month. artie

Depends on the year of the OMC drive. If it's a 1992 or newer real King Cobra it's a cone clutch model and just as strong or stronger than a Bravo.

tassie boy 08-23-2007 02:49 AM

its the later model with the volvo type cone clutch with hyd steering.its a bloody huge thing compared to the penta. anyways thats all i,ve got so i,ll chuck it on with a couple of screws and see how it goes. i,ve also sent some pictures to fastlane40 and if we can keep him off the flagan he might put them on so youz can see what i mean. cheers tassie boy
