I ran 92 or 93 octane fuel with 7.5# and 35* timing. 35* is the factory spec on the timing.

It currenly runs a mix of 91 (best available pump gas in CA and) 110 Sunoco. I shoot for about 92.5 but err on the cautious side. It's a bit over 500 hours and still runs great. It's for sale too! Becuase as good as it is, you know what they say, you can't teach size and there's no replacement for displacement!

Great motor and well taken care of, by the way. Griff really treated all this stuff right and it shows!

Default 525sc mod part numbers????Help!

Anyone got the part number for the 7lb, 177 blower pulley? Can I still run 92 safely with just this mod only, and will I need to rejet the carb? And, who makes the best intercooler for this motor? Anyone know how much and where for all this?

Thanks,

Mike

A thread from the past.

I don't know the part number for a 7# pulley. I think Teague might have them. You can run the same 92 octane fuel and don't need to rejet. I didn't change jets till I put in a bigger cam. I still have a couple smaller pulleys. I think they will make 7.5 and 8lbs.
Best chiller is probably made by whipple, but about 3k.

Just saw this thread come back to life and missed your post originally.

I had a Gil manifold get a small crack and the dripping water pitted 2 exhaust valve stems. I actually saw the pitting when I changed the exhaust to CMI's and ran it another 50hrs and just took it easy until the end of the season. It was still running fine when I tore it apart, but I didn't want to chance it breaking a valve and trashing the entire engine.

Default Hey Griff

Called Teague on Saturday and I can't tell you how unimpressed i was with that guy that answered (Didn't give his name). I asked if he had any blower pulleys for the 525sc and his response was "well, there's your problem....you got a mercruiser engine...". I just hung up the phone, I mean COME ON!! lol

So...are you interested in selling your pulleys? PLLEEEAASEEE

Do you need one or a matched pair???

The ones I have are different sizes by about a 1/8 inch. One is slightly smaller(2 13/16") than the one I was running and one is slightly larger(2 15/16"). The one I was running was 2 7/8" and I was making just under 8lbs of boost, so they should make 7.5# and 8#. I got them used and they do have some scratches.

$50 each includes shipping.
