2000 500 HP w/whipple question
Friend picked up a 2000 baja with a whipple charged 500 hp. When they did the sea trial they noticed oil coming out for the dip stick. Is this common on this setup?
Motor runs @ 5.5 lbs of boost, 350 hours, compression was 140 in all 8 cylinders.
Heads were freshened within 50 hours (receipts for all work)
Thanks

Compressions numbers are low, and that would explain the oil coming out of the dipstick. That is the result of blow by past the rings. Time for a rebuild of the bottom end.

Yea....they all do that, the ones that are tired do. "Rings are worn, blowers are pressurizing the crankcase causing oil to be pushed out the dipstick. With only 5 lbs of boost, they are getting alot of blow by.

I'm not sure about the 500HP but I have seen blowers installed and people forget to move the pvc and/or breather hose to the intake side of the blower. That can pressurize the crankcase.

my boat did the same thing. could be as simple as putting silicone inside the cap of the dipstick..more common than you would think.. leak it down first....also check the valve covers and make sure they are vented..mine was vented and still had to put silicone in the dipstick cap...
