Default 500 Efi

Anything i should know about this engine before i buy the boat. ITs a 2002 fever with 500 efi with 98 hours on it. How long do these motors usually last for? Also do you need to do any major maintenance to them around the hours this boat has on it? Let me know everything about this motor thanks.

Great motor as it sits or for upgrades. Check the ECU and get a leakdown/compression check.

You need a...

PROFESSIONAL SURVEY BY A QUALIFIED HIGH-PERFORMANCE MARINE SURVEYOR

You can save yourself thousands of dollars in aggravation and possibly a summer out of the water by spending a few bucks on haviong the right guy survey it. There's a good chance the finance company and/or your insurance company will demand it- if not, it's still nice to have if you ever had a claim.

Usually around 250 hrs you would need to get the upper part of the engine rebuilt (valves/springs etc). But def have a surveyor do the leak down / compression test.
