Here's my setup. I unclip the wrist band and hook the clip to my lifeline when I have it on during the poker runs. It hangs on the shifter when not in use and it doesn't interfere with docking. It's all jetski stuff available at Overtons.

I've had a hell of a time trying to track down an extra tether. Mine are similar to what hunster pictured but they are deeper/thicker. Every mercruiser and aftermarket one I have found is to shallow to clip on my tether.
