is There Anyway To Get More Power/speed?

is there any way to get more power and speed outta my boat for super cheap you know like garage tunning type stuff? i have a 29 force offshore cat with a 598 NA carburated motor it has a single 1050 dominator carb, headers, you know the bolt-ons. just curious

If you're sportin' a 598 i'm assuming you've already done all the little things.

Croozin2 04-29-2008 08:44 AM

Not to overstate the obvious, but if this is the sport/hobby you chose to get into, "super cheap" shouldn't be in your vocabulary!! Jus sayin...:D

Most of the speed is in the setup. What prop? What drive? What prop depth to sponson?

Is that motor aluminum headed? Good intake?

I think you can almost always find speed/performance by playing with the prop.

Yeah but a new Hering peobably wouldn't fall under the category of "cheap" Having said that, you probably couldn't find 3mph or so for less $$. Plus, it won't increase your fuel consumption

Here's a thought- have you blocked & wetsanded your bottom?

Planetwarmer 04-29-2008 11:14 AM

The cheapest way to make a boat go faster that I found was to loose weight!

Chris Sunkin 04-29-2008 11:43 AM

Very true, but you have to remove any significant weight proportionally. Altering your boat's center of gravity too much can cause odd handling issues.

BlackJack58 04-29-2008 02:00 PM

Yeah --just push that fat chick off the back of the boat and you will go a lot faster. Doesn't cost a thing.

Not having her fat bottom in the boat may adversely affect your center of gravity, but at least you won't have any awkward explaining to do to your friends...:D

ok whats a hering? and im running a labbed 28p 4blade prop with a xr drive w/ a -2 inch shorty lower. i have not sanded the boat and absolutly no fat chicks either ha ha
