Default 496 height plus EFI considerations

What is the height of a stock 496 mag HO from base of intake manifold to top of cowling? Just trying to figure out clearance with my victor jr, 850 demon and flame arrestor which is almost 13" from base of manifold to top of 3" flame arrestor. Looking at used boats with 496 and dropping in my custom motor without clearance issues. I can always lower the size of the flame arrestor an inch or so by cutting down the screen. Also, If i have this setup already bought, is there much advantage to spending an extra $4000 for a complete EFI setup for my 509cid ? My machinist encourages EFI but it is quite expensive. Thanks, Dave in TEXAS
