Well, I'm having the same stuttering/lack of rpm problems with my VST as many others have experienced, and in the process of diagnosing the problem, I've of course started exploring other minor upgrades. Anyway, my engine consists of a new longblock 502 installed last year using the same remaining components off the old '96 engine that blew. In examining the pics from the blown motor pull last year, I keep going back to the pics of the old valvetrain, and noticed that there were definitely roller rockers on the old heads which I did not put on the new long block (anxious to get back out quickly). Anyway, the rockers on the stock 502 I'm running now aren't roller I guess, but I don't know what these in the photo are, or if it would be beneficial to swap them. Any ideas?

Oh, forgot, got the new engine from 1800runsnew.com and it has performed great so far. The only problems that have come up are from the re-used components, i.e. the VST tank, and had the old alternator die. Other than that, no problems. I'm considering removing the VST totally and replacing with an electric pump, or simply add the Racor filter in line before the VST to avoide future clogging which I've read is an option. Not sure which route is better, and not sure exactly which pump would be best or exactly which Racor filter to use. Anybody?

They look like Crane Blue Race roller rockers WG3064 or simular. These were used in the GM 8100 (496) Vortec HP3 marine race engine that GM campaigned in the Super V Light series for some years starting around 2000. That engine completed the GM 100 hours at WOT durability test as well as good durability in the race program. The stock stamped steel GM rockers fail early in the noted durability test but may have been due in part to higher spring loads needed for the HP3 cam.

As Rage said they are Crane Mfg rockers. Same material as the Gold series rockers just lack the gold anodizing. Crane supplies several companies with rockers under their own labels. This is a very good rocker.

Rage- That's very cool, I had no idea such a test even existed. The original stamped rockers will be what I'm swapping out for these, so that's definitely good to know. Heck, you can't really go wrong swapping to any kind of roller rocker from those.
Cstraub- appreciate the info, I was unaware Crane subbed their parts out like that.
That's exactly what I was looking for, and hoping to hear! ("This is a very good rocker.") Thanks guys!!
