This is another fantastic oil filter that is "overbuilt".

Excellent flow and filtration...AND good at higher oil pressures; very tough build quality. Similiar to the Mobil-1 and Amsoil filters that use newer generation cellulose. Great filters expecially for synthitic oil for extended use.

I still personally use M-1 oil filters as they are easy to get off the shelf. I use either M-1 V-twin or Redline these days along with some Amsoil Series 2000 products.

I was PM'd thought I would share the info.

Just talked to Wix Filters and they suggested that 51061R is meant to be used only once and for RACING only. The TECH person stated that this filter only filter's at 61 microns.

I'm more confused now than when I started too ask questions!!!!

The reason I called Wix was to ask why their filter only had 6 drain back holes and the HP4 had 8. Along with having 2 more holes they were larger in diameter.

There are non-detergent racing only oils that are used with a high flow lower filtration oil filter for one "race" and only one race.

Unless all you do is race you don't want that kind of oil or filter.

So the answer is do not use the Wix 51061R unless you are racing. This is not an everyday filter with conventional oil?

Wix actually lists all their filters on the web page below page as "Principally for Racing". A good number do not have anti-drain valves....I am not an expert on Wix Filters.

I use Mobil-1 oil filters. Mobil 1 touts as having 98% single-pass particle filtration at 10 to 20 microns, and multiple-pass efficiency of 95% (vs. 80% for the average filter).

As far as Wix goes:

http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/racing.asp

I did some additional research and the 51061R Wix Racing crosses with the following:

Volvo # 835440

MerCruiser #'s 14957, 35-802885T & 35-866340Q03

Wix # 51069 (Racing Only)

Napa # 1069

Purolator # L20049

Mallory # 9-57801

Fram # PH30

Sierra #18-7824

fyi..

Frams HP Series filter is just for performance and racing use. This spin-on filter can trap particles as small as 15 microns smaller than the 20-40 micron-sized particles that cause most engine wear. The filter has an anti-drainback valve. Maximum flow rate is 10 gpm and maximum operating pressure is 200 psi.

Now these are $20/ea and I suspect a decent filter vs. the Fram $2.99 filters>>?

I was told this filter does not have a drainback valve. Makes for less of a mess whan changing. Punch a small hole in the top and wait a while... remove with no mess. I checked the # it is correct..Thanks..700's w/NXT's
