Default ECU Calibration, 1994 vs. 1996

Hello,
For the last couple of weeks I've been strugling with my 1996 502MagMPI.
Long story short, I have another thread on the board, it turns out that the ECU may be bad.
Anway, I was able to get my hands on an ECU from a 1994 and installed it on my 1996 engine. The engine starts and seems to run just fine.
I do know the my engine is a Gen VI hydraulic roller cam engine and the engines in 1994 were Gen V hydraulic flat cams. Off the top of my head, the cam specs are vary close, but...
Do I need to have this ECU recalibrated or just run it for the rest of the season?
Thanks for the help...

Yes, it should be recalibrated. It will run pretty good with either cal, but its certainly not right. ALso, if you have a cool fuel engine vs. a vapor seperator tank system, the fuel psi and mapping are different so you need to have the appropriate fuel system with the proper mapping to make everything safe and reliable.

Thanks,
Dustin

Well, I'm still having problems.
I don't know if it's the ECU or not though.

I had the new to me, 1994 ECU reprogrammed to have the original 1996 calibration.

Now the problem I'm having is that the engine starts to die out in the last 15% of the throttle, around 4000rpm.
I've check the fuel pressure and base timing and it's good.

I go to check for codes and the reader does not get any codes at all from this ECU. No blinking lights, nothing.
It's not the reader, I bought another and with the "bad" 1996 ECU plugged in, I get blinking lights and error codes.

Before I had the 1994 ECU remapped it did show the "good" 1- 2 code and no errors.
This is totally strange...

Help, Ideas?

He's ending me another ECU to try.
Great service!
Thanks!
