I assume (correct me if I am wrong) that you can use Double Platinum or Iridium's as a direct match for the "traditional plug".

If that is correct and it's so difficult to get to plugs (especially 2 bigblocks shoe-horned in an 8' wide room) ..why not use the best and go longer..like twice as long..between changes?

Changing plugs is mostly labor at any Marina too.

As long as the heat range is correct and the thread size & reach are correct, any plug will do. All in all, one plug is just as good as another in the world most of us play in. I think when things like V notches and U grooves make a difference is when you're making thousands of horsepower from one engine. On a 500 hp engine, I would bet any champion/ngk/accel/autolite/you name it will do just as good a job as any other. I think the thing you get from the bigger name brands at our level is manufacturing consistency and less chance of getting a bad piece. That's my $.02 anyway!

Quality control matters as you noted.

The traditional :NGK BR6FS ($2.24ea)

or

NGK Iridium BR6FSIX ($ 7.83)

The Iridiums will last twice as long at least as a conventional plug as they are better than even double platinum plugs.

Coool, a thread I can join rightfully. i don't use spark plugs either.

Okay that was a slight joke. LOL.

Asking a question like this without giving full details on engine build is like looking for a car for someone that all you know about them is they have 30k to spend. Very unlikely you'll pick the right one for them.
