On a Positive note. I really appreciate the help here and I Especially appreciate when someone posts the results they recieved from implementing those suggestions.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

Rarely do people post the results or what worked, they usually post what didn't work. Most of the posts just dissapear and you don't hear feedback.

It would be great to find out once in a while what fixed the problem so you can get feedback or maybe even learn something new! Or say, "damn, I forgot about that."

Talking

Since I assume I'm always right, I just figured what I told them worked.

Although the lookinforboats approach to giving advice to our forum carries about as much tact as farting at the dinner table, he does make a good point. There are many members on this forum that make up some of sharpest people in the marine industry. When these guys, or any other member takes time out to help problem solve, I think we (I) owe it to them to provide feedback when the problem is actually resolved, instead of just letting the thread die.

I am guilty of this. I started a few "water in my oil" threads that generated 100+ replies offering intelligent advice. The problem was eventually solved thanks in part to OSO members but I never posted what the root cause was. I will be digging one of them up and posting the root cause. Thanks again guys!

Lookinforboats - You made a good point and I am sure you mean well, but.........you need to relax a bit.

I have always recieved tons of help from members and their posts. I have also learned a lot just by reading others posts with similar problems. I have noticed that the posts sometimes leave you hanging as to what fixed the problem. But I always took that another way, such as their boat got fixed and they were so excited they put it in the water and went BOATING, and then forgot to follow up.

looinforboats, you too the wrong approach the moment you started smackin some of the people on this board.

It's not the way I would have handled it.

And you know hardly ever does anyone post the fix after its done. I dont think thats too much to ask.

I used to be an auto tech and belonged to an organization called ""IATN" You could ask other techs for help on a particular problem and they would respond from all over the world. A great concept and resource> BUT if you didnt also contribute and share info including, and especially the fix for the problem, your rating dropped. If it went low enough you were locked out and couldnt post anymore which made perfect sense to me.

So come on guys lets start posting the fixes also so we can all benefit from our efforts. What do you think??
I think its a great idea, dont know why some of these azzholes had to jump on you like that!

This is not a newby website...I have made posts from time to time that go unanswered....so what...if I want to be heard I'll talk to my wife and she can pretend to be listening.
You need to find a common interest with another poster, and then they will remember you....and before too long others will notice your conversations and maybe...MAYBE chime in. I've noticed there are a lot of old timers here...and they all have friends that they talk to regularly. If you were walking down a boat dock and 2 guys standing next to a 46 skater were talking...would you expect them to invite you into the conversation?
Try starting a thread about looking for a 35ft boat for under 100,000. You'll never be able to keep up with the posts....but the secrect is COMMON INTEREST....you would be wanting a boat...and there are people on here selling.
If you use the search function on the site, you'll find more info on here than you could ever digest.
I own a checkmate...and from what I've read...Mr Gadgets is good at making them go fast, and I wrote to him in a thread or 2 and had good conversation with him about mods I could do. Again...common interest...we had something to talk about...this site can be harsh...but it aint a kiddy pool, if you get used to it...there's not a better site for boating IMHO
