Spun Bravo one drive coupler ????
3 Attachment(s)
How do ya tell if its bad, It looks like it to me. This was a brand new one out of the Hustler 104 hours,I never felt it slip, also I had change to turning the props in,I was running it hard and ran a 105 before taking them out.
The flywheel side has rubber stuff stuck to the surface, slung out wards,in the pick on the drive side,no rubber and no grease that slung, The Starboard side is the original one 2001. Thanks for any suggestions Rob:ernaehrung004: |

if it spun you would know it when you ran it..no such thing as a little slippage....grease from the splines makes them look funky..Rob

When a coupler goes, it makes a mess; rubber goes everywhere. Some times you can limp home though.
An HP500 coupler is like $300 from CP Performance; at least it was a couple of years ago when I lost one. |
As far as I know, they are good until they are bad. Unless it is obviously blown apart, there is no way of telling by looking at them. I am surpirsed to see that you are running those. I run the long style steel coupler. I thought they were better?

thats true, mine has a much larger hub...

Vinny, Strip,
I was told there are no splines on the inside of the longer hub. I think they use if for a gease seal looks like it would cover the first oring on the newer input shafts. Not sure if the splines on each model are the same length or not. Have not had one in hand to measure. If someone has one they can measure for me, I will compare them to steel short hub. I have a new one on the shelf if someone needs it. It is the short shaft hub, PN 861523A18. The longer one costs almost $100 more, PN 861523A7. Both have steel hubs. Dick |

On the first picks flywheel side theres no grease at all on it,thats all rubber, To me that has to be a sign of it melting, hat do youall think? Whats the diff is the other hubs? Thanks,Rob:ernaehrung004: |
Dick,
You are right, there are no extended splines in the long stlye hub. I could have measured mine, but I droppd the engine back in already. Not to worry, it wont be in there too long!  I dont know what the difference is, or even if there is a difference between the long and short style hubs. I was told the long style is better from someone.. dont remember who. |
boy when it goes you got burnt rubber black chit every wear, and it smells, I am putting a new one on my new motor the other one is a 01 but only has 30hours on it with the 650hp motor ,I will leave it on that. artie
