I'm chasing an electrical current drain problem on a 2001 38' Fountain. Does anyone know what the ckt breaker labeled "full time 12v" is used for? This appears to be the source of my drain. The customer cannot tell me what it's for and I'm not that familiar with the boats. Worst case I guess I'll disconnect it and see what doesn't work. I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Usually Mercury uses 1 big red button 50 amp for the whole motor/drivetrain, sounds like the 12v may be for a small accessory or something after market. Let me know if you need any parts, the breaker may be bad.

Any 12V outlets in the cabin or cockpit? That would be my guess.

So far I've found it runs the forward bilge pump and is wired directly to the battery. Someone had installed a solid state automatic bilge pump and that is what was running battery down, even with the battery switches turned off. It cycles every 2 minutes to test for water. It also runs into the panel in the cabin. Maybe keep alive for a radio.

For what it's worth,I can think of three items on my Slingshot that always have power to them. The bilge pump in the engine compartment, the Northstar GPS and the Merc Cathode Anti-corrosion system. Good luck....

Try disconnecting the Merc Cathode. I have seen these go bad and pull a large amount of current.
