raylar with headers

Im thinking of takeing my 496 mags in my 29 outlaw and putting on the raylar kits. Do I need to change my exaust on them. Trying to reach 80-82 is this over kill or the only way

The 525 kit makes 525 HP with the stock exhaust. With descent headers and an ECM upgrade they will make 565 HP. I'm having a kit with headers installed on my 288 Sunsation but it will be this spring before I gice her her 1st run.

29,
You should expect approx 1 MPH for each 20 HP.

My 29 w/HP500's would run that speed.....you're
going to need to be in that neighborhood for power to achieve those #'s.

Here's a link to some testing we did on the 496 that may help you out.

I can help you out on the Raylar kits and headers if you decide to go forward with the project.

I just did a 2006 Mag that was running exhaust thru the prop. Picked up 12mph with Raylar Kit, Whipple stage 2, stock exh manifolds with minor port work and turbulators removed, and thru hull exh. It's sounds sweet but if I had to do it again I'd probably look around for low hour 500EFI and sell the 496...

You would rather switch to a HP500 rather than Raylar because of price and labor?

What speeds are you seeing with the mags?

Do it. Its not overkill. It is still turn key setup. I done the 525 kit with the CMI sport tubes/billet throttle body. I put on the headers first. They are good for 5 mph alone! GPS.
Hp and still turn key. If you want to stay with the 496 its the way to go. Power, great sound and is never stalls or stumbles.
Dont get me wrong its not a 598 or 632 cid. But you wont have to work on it at every weekend. Just do your service work and use good oil. I use Mobil-1 15w50 Red top.

I too just received my 525 Raylar kit...it looks awesome and I cant wait to get it installed. I am not sure if I will opt for headers or not....its going in my 280 Silencer.
