What is the phone number at the dealership??? I'd like to call Glenn and chat with him a little about his engines/boat. Thanx

Mitch,

When I received the message re: valve spring setup in your package, I was skeptical of the figures for the springs provided to you. It is unlikely a qualified engine builder familiar with HR valvetrain setup would have recommended this part. The spring number you passed along (Lunati 74014) is a discontinued item; however I do have the specs on the springs.

225 # @ 2.000”
625 # @ 1.250”
Rate 533 #/in

Your peak lift being ~ .600”, the spring force at that point is 545#. Given a rocker ratio of 1.7, the force at the lifter is 926.5#. If the part number is accurate, and these are in fact the springs you are using, I would suggest you change out the springs prior to firing the engine.

Bob

i fired it tonight!!!!!!!!!!! despite one fireball (not in perfect time yet) it ran great! that 500hp cam sounds great! my exhaust sounds great. the carb was set up well. i need to do some more checking a little later. thanks to everyone! thank you rm builder, joby, Griff, and all else who helped me make smoething out of my 502 mag. i hear a little lifter noise but im sure they will fully pump up soon. and i might have ruined an impeller filling up the engine but all is well! i will post some pics soon and let you know how it runs.
