Default Hull work

Has anyone tried "Scuffing" the running surface of the hull to gain mph? If so what exactly do you have to do? Does it work? Heard that it breaks the adhesion of the water too a smooth hull giving the boat less friction= more speed.

Mine was done by the factory and I agree it is not worth it. It looks like crap.

up at our shop Face It Boat Reconditioning, we did a test. We had a american offshore come in with a sanded bottom, 80 grit. I told the owner he would not have to pay his bill if he didn't pick up speed. We sanded from 180 grit - 220-320-400-600-800-1000-1200-buff-level-waxed He picked up 4 mph top end, plus its easer to clean, and looks better. Resales there also.

So what you're saying is that it came in scuffed with 80 grit and you smoothed it out slowly and it picked up speed? So scuffing doesn't work or it does work? Sorry you lost me.
