I bet you know which one I will recommend! Seriously, we spent a few years at the boat shows crawling around a lot of different brands. This included Donzi. The Formula just had more room, better ergonomics and more of a 'quality' feel than the other brands. I like the windshield too, although some people don't like that look.
I can't comment on the performance or ride of the Donzi, but I have been very happy with my 292 (6.2's). The rough water ride (heavy, 24° V) and the top speed isn't half bad (twin stepped hull) at 70 mph. I had the Bennett tabs replaced with 280S K-Planes and that definitely helps when running hard in the big stuff. Also have Latham steering which I highly recommend.
I believe the 292 is usually more $$ than the Donzi, so if they are priced close that is another plus to the 292. Ideally your friend can get a chance to spend some time in these boats before making a decision.

I agree. I've been very pleased with mine, and I like the windshield also and the quality of workmanship I feel is excellent. IMO you get a better boat with the Formula than the Donzi. But it's really personal preference. Have him buy my boat!!!!!!
