Where to get used stock Mag heads
Long story short, I lost a cylinder head today. I'm pissed and it's embarrassing to explain.
Anyways I have a Gen V Magnum 454. Does anyone out there know where I can get a used one. Doesn't have to be in great shape. I'm having the other surfaced and a valve job done anyways. I have heard that the auto heads are basically the same but have different exhaust valves. I would be open to this if it's true... Any info would be a great help. Thanks.

Forgot to close the tail gate....
Formula, I don't have much to spend. I wasn't looking to blow a head gasket last weekend so I'm already spending a couple hundred more on the boat than I expected too. I bought the boat on the condition with the wife that it wouldn't become a money pit. I know what you are all thinking. Anyways, I'll let you know in the next few days. Thanks.

damn $300 a set?!? are yours gold or standard cast iron...i bought an entire gen 6 longblock for $450.
seriously though, this is a good start eric. i'll check a couple local boat places tomorrow for you and see if we can't come up with something. i'd say a used set of stock heads that still likely need surfacing, valve job, etc to make completely fresh would be worth $150 or so....

Thanks, I'll keep the option open for a few days. Like I said I'm trying to do this on the low.
Are there any other installation issues I would be concerned with? I assume they use the same head/intake gaskets. And the tapped holes for accessory brackets in the same locations. Do they use the same rockers and pushrods? Lastly, what is the casting number.
Thanks.
